Database Development

In the field station our research assistants are using an in-house FileMaker database solution to transcribe and encode recordings. This database has undergone changes and improvements to meet the needs of the project. What started as a flat single-tabled Appleworks database has evolved into a set of relational FileMaker database files incorporating various tools for interlinearising text, tallying and linking text to digital media.

The database templates used and their development have now become a project in the their own right in the field station.

It is planned that a beta version of our language coding database templates will be made available for download on this page sometime in the near future.
