Other comments: Zayse or Zargulla has a decimal system. The word 'thousand' maybe a loan-word from Amharic. The symbol <č> is a voiceless palatal affricative, IPA <tʃ>, <š> is <ʃ>. The above data was taken from Zargulla dialect. Zayse-Zergulla is the combined title for the two closely related dialects of Zayse and Zargulla. It is an Afro-Asiatic Omotic language, and is spoken in the southwestern part of Ethiopia, to the immediate west of Lake Chamo by approximately 19,000 speakers. |
