Other comments: Waorani or Huaorani is spoken by approximately 1,600 speakers out of 2,400 ethnic population in Orellana province: south from Tiputini river, including portions of Yasuní National Park; Pastaza province: Arajuno and Pastaza cantons including a small group near Puyo community; Napo province; eastern jungle between Napo and Curaray rivers, Ecuador. Waorani has numbers 'one' ɑd'oke and 'two' mẽɑ, 'five' õnõmpo ɑ̃mɑ̃p'oke, 'ten' õnõmpo tipɑmp'oɡɑ and the capacity for doubling the 'ten' õnõmpo tipɑmp'oɡɑ, and the function word 'go'. They can count up to 60 or higher, but now they use Spanish numerals. |
