Other comments: Seze or Sezo has a quinary, vigesimal system. Seze is spoken by approximately 3,000 speakers in Oromia Region, Western Wollegga Zone, Begi and Qondala Districts, Ethiopia. Nowadays, the traditional numbers of Sezo as well as Ganza are not known among the new generation. The young people and children can count only up to ten. They cannot go further. Mostly the Sezo speakers count in Oromo; a major language of the area. In most cases, the Ganza people count in Arabic. These data are collected from elders above 65. The elders themselves told me the numbers by recalling; that means their counting is not automatic. Note: Sezo has two levels of tone — high and low. The two tones occur on mon-omoraic and bimoraic syllables (i.e. on short and long vowels). Rising (LH) and falling (HL) contour tones have been recorded occurring only. |

Other comments: Seze has a quinary, vigesimal system of counting. The first set of 'one to ten 'on the above table was taken from SIL survey. There are missing terms for the compound numerals and tens. Nowadays, they might use Amharic numerals for after ten. |
