Other comments: Ron of Daffo has a modern decimal system and also has an old duodecimal system or base-twelve system, which can count up to 144 'sók sók' or sók á atísi'. Ron of Daffo has six tones, the tones 'u' and 'o' as in numbers 2, 6 and 7 are middle-falling tones. Ron is a West Chadic language cluster spoken by approximately 180,000 speakers in Plateau State, Nigeria. Dialects include Bokkos, Daffo-Mbar-Butura (incl. Mangar), Monguna (Shagawu, 20,000 speakers). Blench (2006) considers these to be separate languages. |
