Other comments: Parecís or Haliti, Arití is spoken by approximately 1,800 speakers in 15–20 villages, Jubá, Guaporé, Verde, Papagaio, Burití, and Juruena rivers, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. Parecís has a counting system based on 'hand' and 'feet'. 6 is expressed by the phrase ''one of the hand, and going to the other side, put one finger''; the word 'kahitihi' means 'finger''. 11 is expressed by '' two hands, and going to the other side, put one finger''. 15 is expressed by '' two hands, and one side of the foot'; the word ''kitxiti'' means 'foot'. 20 is not used one person. The word for person is ''haliti''. The Paresi people usually refers to themselves as ''Paresi-haliti''. And the symbol '','' was used in the work of Rony Paresi to separate the phrases. |
