Other comments: Paiwan has a decimal system. There are two forms of cardinal numbers from one to ten in Paiwan. The first one is used in series counting and counting things, the second for counting human beings. The IPA symbol [ʎ] is a 'palatalized l' original expressed as 'ľ' and 'tj' is a 'palatalized t '. Paiwan is spoken by about 15,000 speakers (Ethnic population: 103,000) in mountains southeast, Pingtung and Taitung counties, Taiwan. |
