Other comments: Omurano is an unclassified language of Peru. Also known as Humurana, Roamaina, Numurana, Umurano, and Mayna. The language was presumed extinct by 1958, but in 2011 a memoir was discovered who knew about 20 words of Omurano. He claimed that there was still someone who could speak it. According to Loukotka (1968), the language was spoken near the Urituyak River (a tributary of the Maranon River) or in the Nukurai River. Omurano has recorded traditional numerals from 1 to 10 only. |
