Other comments: Nukuria or Nukeria has a decimal system similar to that of Takuu. Nukeria makes use of elaborated counting systems for counting 'coconuts, fish, money, etc.' similar to those of Takuu, Mangarevan, etc. A note I use the name Nukeria, because people who speak the language call themselves like this. Nukeria is its name in the so-called "trade language". Nukeria is an endangred language spoken only by 500 speakers (Davletshin 2017). 170 monolinguals. Ethnic population: 500 (Davletshin 2017) in Atolls district, north of Bougainville island, Nukuria atoll and Puhuria island; Buka island, Bougainville province, Papua New Guinea. |
