Other comments: Mvuba is spoken by approximately 8,000 speakers in Nord-Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in Uganda. Mvuba has a counting system up to 20. The lower numerals 1 to 5 are similar to that of Efe of the same group. Numerals from 10 to 20 are formed regularly by àᵐʊ̀tsí 'ten', followed by each of the numerals 1-9, linked by ìkí –literal meaning unknown . The numeral '20' is a separate root word: ɓuwa. It doesn't know if the Mvuba people use a decimal system or vigesimal system or not. The Mvuba language has 7 contrastive vowels: i, ɪ, ɛ, a, ɔ, ʊ, u. The vowels /ɛ/ and /ɔ/ each have an allophone: [e] and [o], when elsewhere in the word, the vowel /i/ or /u/

is found. In the numerals below, I have written the 7 contrastive vowels, but also

the 2 allophones. The language has 3 tones: High á, Low à, and Mid, unmarked: a.
