Other comments: Mundurukú or Monjoroku is spoken by approximately 8,000 speakers out of 18,000 ethnic population in Amazonas, Mato Grosso, and Pará states; middle Madeira, and middle and upper Tapajós rivers, Brazil. Mundurukú has four numbers and a word ''pə̃ŋ³ pə̃ŋbi'' can be translated as 'five' or ''one point', 10, 15 and 20 can be expressed by ''two points, three points and four pointes'' but seldom used. Portuguese numbers are frequently used. |
