Note on the consonantsː voiced plosives and implosives are realized as voiceless in word final positions, so the voiceless bilabial plosive [p] occurs word finally for /b/ and /ɓ/. The voiceless fricatives /ʃ/ (postalveolar) and /x/ (velar) occur in words borrowed from Arabic. The glottal [ʔ] can also occur word medially in Arabic loan words. The glottal also appears to occur regularly before a word initial vowel. Vowels:
