Mru has 4 (or possibly 8) contour tones, and a bunch of high back vowels which all sound more or less the same to non-native speakers. It also has a number of optional enclitics that are abundant in natural speech, but elude glossing. Mru is spoken by approximately 50,000 speakers in Bandarban district, Chittagong division, Bangladesh, as well as India and Myanmar. |
