Other comments: Loniu has a typical "Manus type" Austronesian language decimal counting system with special structure for numerals 6 to 9 and 70, 80 and 90, and as the most languages in Manus, there are over thirty classifiers in Loniu to use with different kinds of nouns. Loniu is spoken by about 700 speakers in Lolak and Loniu villages on Los Negros island south coast, Manus province, Papua New Guinea. Note that the the symbol /č/ =IPA [ t͡ʃ]. |
