Other comments: Kandas has a decimal system. Note that some Kandas numerals after ten are apparently borrowed from the Ramoaaina or 'Duke of York Island' language. It is very interested that the number 7 in 17, 27 and 7 is different from number 7 and contained the form for number 6 'wonom'. The above data was written in orthographic spellings. Kandas is spoken by about 1,400 speakers in some villages on southwest coast in New Ireland province, Papua New Guinea. |
