Other comments: Kanamarí or Canamarí, Djapá, Kanamaré, Tâkâna, is spoken by approximately 1,300 speakers out of 4,600 ethnic population in Amazonas state: Itaquai, Jurua, Jutai rivers’ upper regions. Kanamarí or Canamarí uses a very limited numeral system. The basis is the hand fingers and 5, 6, 7 are compose, but people only remember the traditional numerals 1 to 2 only now. |

Other comments: Kanamarí or Canamarí uses a very limited numeral system. The older generation told me that their forefathers had a more extensive system, but nobody knows that any more - even the older folks don't. They told me that some counted different positions on the arm, but nobody can tell now anymore what would be the right word. |
