Other comments: Kagayanen has a decimal system. Note that the parenthesis means that it is optional. It can be said without the ‘daw’. The older generation tends to have the ‘daw’ in the teen numbers and the younger without it. Some speakers say sampʊð̞úʔ for ten. Kagayanen is spoken by approximately 30,000 speakers in Palawan Province: Cagayancillo Island between Negros and Palawan and Iloilo Province.

/ð̞/ interdental voiced non-lateral approximants. Olson and Miekle (2010) describe the articulation of

the dental approximant as being a voiced oral pronounced with unrounded lips and egressive pulmonic air. They also say that there is non-turbulent air flow and that,  unlike a lateral, the tongue blade remains relaxed throughout the articulation. So they do not call the sound a lateral approximate. When the point

of articulation of a dental approximant is interdental, as in Kagayanen, then perceptually it has a "lateral’ sound.

The phoneme /i/ has four allophones; [i] close front, [ɪ] near close near-front, [e] close-mid front  and [e̞] mid front. In stressed syllables in non-loan words [i] occurs and in stressed syllables in loan words [i] varies with [e]. In unstressed syllables in non-loan words [ɪ] occurs and in unstressed syllables in loan words [ɪ] varies with [e¢]. Harmon (1977:24) says that /i/ is realized as [ɪ] that varies with [ɛ] before consonant clusters. This is true when it occurs in an unstressed syllable like [bɪdlás] ‘to fall apart’. But in stressed syllables then /i/ is realized as [i] like in [/ídlaw] ‘to miss someone’. The phoneme /u/ has three allophones [u], [ʊ] and [o]. The complementary distribution of the allophones [u] and [ʊ] is somewhat analogous with that of [i] and [ɪ]. In stressed syllables [u] occurs. In unstressed non-final syllables and unstressed final syllables that are open [ʊ] occurs, but in unstressed closed final syllables [o] occurs. The phonemes /ɤ/ and /a/ do not have allophones. The /ɤ/ is realized as [ɤ] and /a/ as [a].
