Other comments: Kafa or Kafinoonoo has a decimal system influenced by the Semitic language. 3000 is kèèddʒé hùmó; 4000 áwùddé hùmó. Note that <tʃ’> is a voiceless palato alveolar affricate and ejective, < t’> is a voiceless stop ejective. Kafa or Kefa (Kafi noono) is a North Omotic language spoken in Ethiopia at the Keffa Zone with about 830,000 speakers. |

Other comments: Kafa has a decimal system influenced by the Semitic language. In an Addiyo dialect, 10 is bondiyo /bondijo /. My informant accepts all the data with the exception of 90. As to him, the data is used the same way by the Kafa speech communities in Bonga, Channa /tʃ’anna/, and Gimbo localities or Weredas. You download the recent map of Kafa zone in Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples Regional State. I could not show the tonal system since it needs further study/ investigation. Note <tʃ’> is a voiceless palato alveolar affricate and ejective. < t’> is a voiceless stop ejective. ? may be pronounced differently with some other speakers.. This will be checked other speakers at my reach. |
