Other comments: Jiamao Li has a decimal system. Jiamao Li numeral 'one' has two forms, 'tsɯ31' is only used in compound numerals; also, numeral ' two' has two forms, but 'tʰiau11' is more commonly used. Jiamao is spoken by approximately 60,000 speakers in Baoting, Lingshui, and Qiongzhong counties, near Wuzhi mountain, Hainan province:, China. Considered by Chinese linguists a dialect of Hlai, but very different from Hlai dialects in phonology, grammar, and vocabulary. |
