Other comments: Drubea or Dumea has a traditional quinary, vigesimal counting system based on 'hand' and 'person'. Nowadays, the Drubea people may use French numbers after five. Drubea is a tonal Austronesian language. Note that the additional numerals 21 to 29, 200, 1,000 (literally, fifty persons') and 2,000 (literally, one hundred persons') are provided by Mrs. Boehe-Tindao Laure. Drubea is spoken by about 1,200 speakers in west coast of South province, New Caledonia. |
