Other comments: Didinga is spoken by approximately 100,000 speakers in Didinga hills, Chukudum area, Eastern Equatoria state, South Sudan. Didinga has now developed a decimal system with a base-five substructure. The word for twenty 'xɛɛnramːá' means 'two sticks'. Before they would count in twentiesː 20 is expressed by 'èét̪ úmwa' means 'a person' and 40 èét̪ ramːá 'two people'. The numbers for hundred 'miíya' and thousand 'aalip̚' are both borrowed from Arabic. |
