Other comments: Bugawac or Bukawac has a quinary counting system with one word for twenty 'ŋɡáʔsàmbúʔ dàŋ' which means 'one person'. Generally only numbers 1-5 and 10 are regularly used now, for the other numbers words are commonly borrowed from Tok Pisin and English. Bukawac is a tonal Austronesian language. [v̀] is low tone and [v́] is high tone. Bugawac is spoken by about 12,000 people on the coast of the Huon Gulf, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. |
