Other comments: Bobongko is spoken by approximately 2,000 speakers in Central Sulawesi province: Batu Daka island, Tumbulawa village on northwest coast; Togian islands, Lembanato village on Kilat bay, north side of Togian island. Bobongko has a decimal system similar to that of Saluan languages, except for the numbers one and two and the word for thousand, and sambaʔan '1' appears to have been borrowed from Pamona, doluo '2' is borrowed from Gorontalo, forms recorded as vowel initial (opat '4' olima '5' onom '6' ualu '8' uampulu '20' etc.) may actually begin with a phonetic or phonemic glottal stop. |
