Other comments: Levantine Arabic has a deciaml system. Levantine Arabic has different vocalizations, especially regarding the imāla . I used an urban (Beirut/Damascus) vocalization for this survey. Levantine Arabic is a subgroup of mutually intelligible vernacular Arabic varieties spoken in the Levant, in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, and Turkey. The Levanite Arabic has numerous dialects and over 44 million speakers. |
