Visas for entry to the United States

People should be aware that citizens of many countries require a visa to enter the United States. People are responsible for arranging their own visas and this should be done well ahead of time. At many US embassies and consulates there can be considerable delays in the visa application process. People should apply at their closest U.S. consulate or embassy.

We will be happy to provide letters of invitation on request, but requests need to be made as soon as possible, and visas should be applied for now. People requiring such a letter should contact Jane Creswell at the University of Delaware (contact details below) NOW to ensure that the letter reaches you in time.

The United States does have a visa waiver program for citizens of a limited number of countries. A list of these countries plus the conditions required can be found at the following US Department of State webpage.
