Other comments: Güilá Zapotec (Diza) or Zapoteco de San Pablo Güilá, Zapoteco de Valles del Este Central is spoken by approxiamtely 9,500 speakers in Oaxaca state: San Dionisio Ocotepec municipality, Matatlan and San Pablo Güilá agencies, Mexico.

Güilá Zapotec number system is base twenty (vigesimal system). At least one speaker I have heard interviewed uses a system in which he “counts down” to the nearest multiple of the base number or possibly all multiples of ten when he gets within five numbers of it. For exampleː
55- skaj jísàʔ gayon (“it will be another five to complete sixty”)
56- stap jísàʔ gayon (“it will be another four to complete sixty”)
57- stʃon jísàʔ gayon (“it will be another three to complete sixty”)
58- stjop jísàʔ gayon (“it will be another two to complete sixty”)
59- stɨ̀ jísàʔ gayon (“it will be another one to complete sixty”)
   Morphologically
    s-tɨ̀                           jí-sàʔ
   ANOTHER-one       POTENTIAL.ASPECT-complete
Other speakers do not have this feature. Most young people, perhaps under fifty, hardly know how to count above ten in Zapotec, and instead use Spanish.
