Other comments: Umatilla or Columbia River Sahaptin is a moribund language spoken by 25 older adults only in Umatilla Reservation, northeast Oregon. Umatilla has a decimal system similar to that of Nez Perce. Note the following conversions between Americanist phonetic notation and IPA transcriptionsː 1. š = IPA [ʃ], 2. ƛ = IPA [tɬ], 3. kʼ = IPA [kʼ], 4. aa = IPA [aː], 5. y = IPA [j]. |
