Other comments: Huehuetla Tepehua (Lhima’alh’ama’) or Tepehua de Hidalgo is spoken by approximately 1,500 speakers in Hidalgo state: Huehuetla; Puebla state: half of Mecapalapa town; Veracruz state: northwest, Mexico. Huehuetla Tepehua has vigesimal numeral system similar to that of Pisaflores Tepehua. Actually, Spanish numbers are used by all but the older Tepehuas and even they use Spanish in counting beyond 20. Note that the number prefix is laqa, the 'q' representing a ''uvular plosive''. |
