Other comments: Sìcìte Sénoufo has a vigesimal system of counting with five-based substructure. In dialect of Sokouraba, people use kāzɛ̄ɛm̀bē for 'seven' and nìkĩ̀ndáʔá for 'nine' (nìkĩ̀ndáʔá means ' one take off ). In dialect of Oueleni, they replace 'ɡ͡be-' with 'tūū' in formation of the tens. 400 is the top number in Sìcìte Sénoufo system. For counting money, they usually switch to Dioula loanwords mixing with Sénoufo numbers for higher amounts 'wàà nìkĩ̀' for 1000 and 'wàà sɔ̃̀ɔ̃̀nì' for 2000. Sìcìte Sénoufo or Sìcijuungé is spoken by approximately 265,000 speakers in Cascades region: Leraba province, Oueleni department; Hauts-Bassins region: Kenedougou province, Koloko and Ouelaní prefectures, Tagouara plateau to Mali border, Burkina Faso as well as Mali. |
