Other comments: The Fourou dialect of Shempire Sénoufo has a vigesimal system with substructure for number 6 to 9. The vowels are pretty straight forward as well as the consonants. The Shempire people here in Fourou are more and more adopting the Bambara numerals and if this continues I would say that within a couple of generations the Shempire numeral system will disappear. The reason for this is that the Bambara system is used in the market and it is a whole lot easier than the Shempire system. Updated data with tones needed. Shempire Sénoufo is spoken by approximately 2,400,000 speakers in Savanes district: north of Tingréla, Côte d’Ivoire as well as Mali. |
