Other comments: Northern Straits Salish or North Straits Salish became extinct when the last fluent speaker died in 2020. 5 semi-speakers in scattered locations (2021 T. Montler) in approximately 3,000 ethnic population in British Columbia province: southern Vancouver Island, many islands in the Salish Sea, Canada as well as United States. Northern Straits Straits Salish has a decimal system similar to that of Clallam. |
