Other comments: Phuie (Phuĩé) or Puguli has a vigesimal numeral system. The are two options for 9, 19 and 29, the word 'tʰõ̀' means 'is lacking', so 29 can be expressed as 'mááɡí nì fí dùdúmí tʰõ̀'=( 20 plus 10, one is lacking ). Phuien has high tone ( marked with an acute accent, á), low tone ( marked with grave accent, à), automatic downstep, also called downdrift (unmarked) and non-automatic downstep (marked with a superscripted exclamation point ). Phuie or Puguli is spoken by approximately 14,000 speakers in Hauts-Bassins region: Houet and Tuy provinces; Sud-Ouest region: Bougouriba and Ioba provinces north and west of Diébougou, Burkina Faso. |
