Other comments: Ngabaka Ma'bo has a decimal system similar to that of Gbanzili. The number 'nine' might be derived from of (5+4). The number 'thousand', sáki is borrowed from French 'sac', a slang for a thousand Franc banknote. The linker 'kúlē' in compound numbers means ' opening, unfolding (of the fingers)'. Ngabaka Ma'bo is a three level tonal language. There are nasal vowels, which are expressed by a subscript tilde 'a̰'. Ngabaka Ma'bo is spoken by approximately 258,000 speakers in Lobaye prefecture and Ombella-M’poko prefecture, Central African Republic as well as Democratic Republic of the Congo and Congo. |
