Other comments: San Jerónimo Tecóatl Mazatec (ꞌÉn-ná) or Northern Highland Mazatec is spoken by approximately 18,900 speakers in Oaxaca state: San Antonio Eloxochitlán, San Jerónimo Tecóatl, San Lorenzo, San Lucas Zoquiapan, San Pedro Ocopetatillo, Santa Ana, and Santa Cruz Acatepec municipalities; a few in Puebla and San Sebastian Tlacotepec municipalities, Mexico. San Jerónimo Tecóatl Mazatec or San Jerónimo Mazatec has a vigesimal system. The words from 16 to 19 are formed by adding the numbers 1 through 4 to a new base 15. There are Spanish loanwords for hundred and thousand are with phonological adaptations. |
