Other comments: Mashi is spoken by approximately 1,000 speakers in Lower Fungom in Fungom Subdivision of the Menchum Division of the North West Region of Cameroon as well as Taraba state in Eastern Nigeria. Hombert (1980:83) classifies Mashi as a Western Beboid language and Good et al (2011:106) says it a Beboid variety, ʻʻThe village of Mashi speaks a variety of Naki, a language spoken in a number of villages outside of Lower Fungom, three of which, Mekaf, Small Mekaf, and Mashi Overside, ... Mashi appears to speak a distinct variety of Naki...ʼʼ Mashi has a decimal system.
