Other comments: Manchu has a decimal system. Manchu is only spoken by a few older speakers, and some additional semi-speakers in 3 remote villages in Heilongjiang province. The Manchu Ethnic population is about 10,000,000, and living in Beijing city, Inner Mongol Autonomous Region, Hebei, Jilin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and many provinces in China. Manchu is a nearly extinct Tungusic language native to the historical region of Manchuria in Northeast China. As the traditional native language of the Manchus, it was one of the official languages of the Qing dynasty (1636–1912) of China and in Inner Asia, though today the vast majority of Manchus now speak only Mandarin Chinese. |
