Other comments: Koti (Ekoti) or Akoti is spoken by approximately 140,000 speakers in Nampula province: Angoche district, Angoche island coast area; Nampula city enclave, Mozambique. Koti might have a traditional quinary, decimal numeral system before, but now the numbers 6 to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 and 1000 have been replaced by Swahili Arabic ones. Note that /m̩/ and /n̩/ are syllabic nasals, /j/=voiced palatal approximant. ˈ=stress, ˌ=secondary stress, high tone=/á/, low tone is unmarked. |
