Other comments: Katla has a decimal system of counting. The 'ʌ́wʌ̀l' in compound numbers 21 to 29, meaning 'rush (away)'. Nowadays, the Katla people tend to use Arabic numerals, even for numerals below 5. Numerals above 10 are only known to old speakers. |
