Other comments: Ekegusi or Gusii, Kisii is spoken by approximately 3,200,000 speakers in Kisii, north Migori, and Nyamira counties; Narok county: Thimjope area; south of Kavirondo Gulf, Kenya as well as Tanzania. Ekegusi or Gusii has a decimal system with substructure from 6, 7 and 8. Note that the number for 100 'ɛmia ɛjɛmɔ' which borrowed from Kiswahili is more common than traditional Ekegusii word 'ɾiɣana eɾimɔ'. It seems the thousand ɾiβu was derived from 'ribu' of Malay, an Austronesian language. y=[j] |
