Other comments: Tabasco Chontal or Chontal Maya, Yokot’an is spoken by approximately 60,600 speakers (2020 INEGI) in Tabasco state: 21 towns north-central and south Mexico. Tabasco Chontal has a vigesimal system. Nowadays, Spanish numbers have been used from 11 onwards. Notesː The word 'kʼa' = group of five as in numbers 5, 10, 15 and 20. and for number six: "tom is a contraction of ta + "um for six". |
