Other comments: Highland Oaxaca Chontal (Tsome) or Tequistlatec, Tsame is a moribund language spoken by 2,200 speakers in Oaxaca state: San José Chiltepec, San Lucas Ixcatepec, and 15 towns west of Tehuantepec isthmus, Mexico. Highland Oaxaca Chontal has a number system based on 20. Note that the following transcriptions between traditional phonetic symbols and IPA. 1.ch = simple alveopalatal affricate IPA [tʃ], 2. š = IPA [ʃ ], 3. <'> represents both a glottal stop and glottalization. 4. ñ = IPA [ɲ], a palatal nasal, 5. y = IPA [j], a palatal approximant. |
