Other comments: Chingoni or Angoni, Kingoni, Tanzanian Ngoni is spoken by approximately 258,000 speakers in Iringa and Morogoro regions; Ruvuma region: Songea area, Tanzania. Chingoni has a traditional quinary system. Contemporary Chingoni has adopted the Kiswahili numbers above 5 and counting with base five is no longer the practice among speakers today. There are two basic pitch levels in Chigoni, High and Low, but there are no lexical tones. |
