Other comments: Cahuilla is a nearly extinct language spoken by 6 elderly speakers only among 800 ethnic population in California: San Gorgonio Pass and Mohave Desert areas, United States. Cahuilla has a decimal number system with hints of quinary roots. Lengthen vowels are shown with doubled lettering; ''ll'' is the palatal lateral approximant IPA [ʎ ], ng is IPA [ŋ], ch is IPA [tʃ]. ''siyeentew'' and ''miill'' are Spanish loanwords. The original traditional word for 100 ''metechem'', literally means 'many'. |
