Other comments: Budu or Ibudu (ɨɓʉdʉ) is spoken by approximately 280,000 speakers in Haut-Uele province: Wamba territory, Democratic Republic of Congo. Budu has a decimal numeral system. There are obviously some derivational remnants in these numbers 7, 8 and 9. The second part of number 7 would mean "to come". Number 9 is also related to 5 in some way. Number 8 seems relate to 4 etymologically but can't prove it. The numbers 1, 2 and 3 can all change their prefixes to agree with the class of the head noun. |
