Other comments: Bassa has a quinary, vigesimal system. Numbers 100 'hɔ̃dɛ̀ɖɛ' and 1000 'táázĩ̀ìn' are borrowed from English 'hundred' and 'thousand' with phonological adaptations. Bassa is spoken by approximately 740,000 speakers in Bong, Grand Bassa, and Montserrado counties; Margibi county: coastal areas and Gibi district inland; River Cess county, Liberia as well as Sierra Leone. |
