Other comments: Basa or Bassa, Basa-Benue, Rubassa is spoken by approximately 320,000 speakers in Benue state: Makurdi LGA; Kogi state: Ankpa and Bassa LGAs: confluence of Niger and Benue rivers; Nassarawa state: Nasarawa LGA; enclave on Nassarawa-Benue border, Nigeria. Basa or Bassa numerals 1 to 40 are similar to those of Pongu. Fifty seems a loan word from Hausa word 'dubu' for thousand. |
