Other comments: Awakateko or Aguateco or Qa'yo is spoken by approximately 10,000 or so people in Guatemala, primarily in Huehuetenango and around Aguacatán as well as fewer than 2,000 speakers in the state of Campeche, Mexico. Awakateko has a vigesimal system. 400 is kyaj syent or Jun k’al; 800 is wajxaq syent or kob’ k’al. There are Spanish loanwords for hudred 'syent' and for thoudand 'mil'. |
