Other comments: Animere has a decimal system different from that of Akebu. The number system for this language is all but lost after ten and only a couple speakers even had any higher numbers. Animere is a critically endangered Ghana-Togo Mountain language (Kwa, Niger-Congo) spoken in Kecheibi and Kunda villages, enclave north of Jasikan town, north of the Volta Region, Ghana. A recent sociolinguistic survey of the language estimated that there were less than 30 speakers and that all but three of these speakers are over 40 years old. |
