Other comments: Angoram is spoken by approximately 8,000 speakers in Angoram district, lower Sepik river area, East Sepik province, Papua New Guinea. The above pattern of Angoram system is either a (5, 20) one or a (5, 10, 20) one. There are at least four basic numeralsː 1 is 'biaŋ', 2 is klipar', 3 is 'klerm or 'klerim', and 4 is 'sikor. The word for hand is given uniformly as 'yakli' which does not appear in the number word for 5, 'tam'. Nor does it appear in the numbers word for 10, 'tapalum' or 'tambalum'. The numbers word for 20 is 'walami biaŋ; and the 'walami' is used to construct subsequent 20-cylcle. 'Walami' is not the same as the word for 'man', given as 'palino'. New data needed to compare with the old one. |
