Other comments: Pite Saami has a decimal system. The word for tens [loχke] is often shortened to [lokʰ]. The word for thousand ['tʰuvsan] is a loan word from Germanic. Pite Saami is very distinct from other Saami languages. Pite Saami is a nearly extinct language spoken by approximately only 20 speaker out of 2,000 Ethnic population, in Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur municipalities, along Pite river, Norrbotten county, Sweden, as well as some Norway. |
